Senior Business Analyst - Job Role & Responsibilities

This position will help drive operational excellence and build the Defense account for Maximus. Responsibilities include analyzing business Government procurement data, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and translating data into actionable plans. We're seeking a proactive professional to leverage data for business growth. Responsibilities include analyzing market trends, developing insightful reports, and collaborating with BD Leadership and Program to drive strategic decisions and grow the pipeline. The position will assist Market leader and their Portfolio Leads with growth activities including opportunity identification, business development, capture management, proposal development, pipeline growth, strategic positioning, customer relations, industry networks, and the development of market insights on requirements, acquisition strategy, acquisition timing and contract vehicle choices to improve win rates.

The position will assist the development of market research to include customer preferences, competitive analysis, and incumbent strengths and weaknesses.

  • Assist teaming arrangements to bring the best capabilities to any competition.
  • Develop relationships with line staff, management, and business development peers across the company to assist the development of coherent responses to RFIs, compelling white papers, and persuasive proposals.
  • Assist the development and delivery of executive presentations for gate/capture approvals and proposal artifacts

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and manage new strategic business opportunities, initiatives, mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, alliances and joint ventures.
  • Oversee market analysis, monitors competitive activity, and identify customer needs.
  • Provide leadership in the planning, designing, due diligence, and implementing of strategic business objectives.
  • Define vision, strategies, and tactics.
  • Select, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation.
  • Identify and develop strategic relationships with partners or potential customers.
  • Work with marketing, sales, and product development teams to implement business development initiatives.
  • Conduct business planning activities that includes operating plan development, bid agenda development, opportunity gate reviews, and proposal reviews.
  • Brief capture status to senior management at specified milestones in the capture process.
  • Conduct reviews to document lessons learned and identify necessary adjustments to capture technique, strategy, and actions.
  • Execute action item outputs and maintain accountability for bid delivery.
  • Lead proposal response activities.
  • Directing the work of writing team.
  • Print and production team, and desktop publishing team.
Senior Business Analyst - Job requirements

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Accounting, Finance, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or Information Science strongly preferred.
  • At least five (5) years of related experience
  • Experience in Federal Government IT Contracting
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, advanced in Excel (PivotTables, VLOOKUP, macros)
  • Strong data collection, compilation, and analysis skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent analytical and systematic thinking

Maximus compensation is based on various factors including but not limited to job location, a candidate's education, training, experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value analysis including seniority and merit systems, as well as internal pay alignment. Annual salary is just one component of Maximus's total compensation package. Other rewards may include short- and long-term incentives as well as program-specific awards. Additionally, Maximus provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off. Compensation ranges may differ based on contract value but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
