Senior Business Analyst - Job Role & Responsibilities

Chemonics International is currently seeking a Sr. Business Analyst, Data Management to join our team. As a Sr. Business Analyst, Data Management you will be an integral part of our data management team. You will work closely with the data management team and key business stakeholders to gather, document, and analyze business requirements. You will operate as the team facilitator leading meetings, scrum events, and ceremonies. You will play a pivotal role in analyzing and interpreting complex data and organizational information to drive informed decision-making and optimize operational efficiencies within our team.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Requirements Elicitation & Analysis: Collaborate with stakeholders to gather, document, and analyze business requirements. Translate business needs into clear and concise user stories, functional specifications, and system requirements
  • Information Documentation: Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and document business information including key measures, KPIs, dimensions and attributes
  • Team Facilitation: Guide and coach the team on Agile practices, facilitating self-organization, cross-functionality, and continuous improvement
  • Facilitate Scrum Events and Ceremonies: Lead and facilitate the daily standup meeting, biweekly sprint planning, backlog grooming and team retrospectives
  • Data Analysis: Perform in-depth analysis of data sets, identifying trends, patterns, and insights to support data-driven decision-making and strategic planning
  • Data Governance: Contribute to the development and implementation of data governance frameworks, policies, and procedures to maintain data quality, security, and compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Project Management: Lead projects by defining project scope, objectives, timelines, and resource requirements. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure project deliverables align with business goals
  • Solution Design & Validation: Collaborate with technical teams to design and validate solutions that address business needs. Ensure solutions meet quality standards and align with business requirements
  • Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Identify potential risks and issues within projects or business processes. Develop and implement mitigation strategies to minimize disruptions and achieve project success
  • Stakeholder Management: Effectively communicate with stakeholders at various levels, including executives, to ensure alignment, gather feedback, and present findings or project updates
  • Documentation & Reporting: Create comprehensive documentation including business process maps, requirement specifications, and project status reports. Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders
  • Identify Opportunities: Work with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to drive business solutions.
Senior Business Analyst - Job requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The qualifications listed below are representative of the required knowledge, skills, and/or abilities needed to perform the principal duties.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as Business Analyst
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in the Agile framework, facilitating meetings, and managing story and task creation
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Azure DevOps
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as SQL and Python
  • Basic understanding of SQL and relational databases
  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes
  • Strong familiarity with data modeling and schema design
  • Experience with data integration tools and technologies is a plus
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a logical mindset
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, and lead presentations, training courses, and effective meetings
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and supervise staff and special initiatives
  • Demonstrated integrity, independent thinking, judgment, and respect for others
  • Willingness to travel and work abroad in less developed countries for at least 4 to 8 weeks per year
  • Spanish or French language capability preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Regular attendance and availability during normal business hours are required
  • Ability to work in a normal office environment
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Work Conditions

  • Normal office environment; usually moderate noise level
  • Occasional exposure to environmental conditions include exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by the weather
  • Ability to travel and work abroad in less developed countries for at least 4 to 8 weeks a year.
