Business Analyst, Software - Job Role & Responsibilities

Dodge Construction Network (DCN) is looking for a dynamic Software Business Analyst to be part of the Dodge Content Technology team. The DCN Content team is responsible for providing the core data that drives all products and solutions for the company.

The ideal candidate for this role should have a track record of successfully working in a six-to-eight-member agile teams, analyzing product feature enhancements following agile methodology and Scrum framework. The role requires close collaboration with the Product Manager, Technical Leads, developers, testers, and users.

This position reports directly to the Director of Content Technology.

Location

This is a remote role and candidates can be located anywhere in the U.S. In order to meet the needs of the business, for this position, there is a preference to hire in the Eastern time zone; however, highly qualified candidates in other regions may be considered.

Core Responsibilities

  • As a key member of an agile team, work closely with Product Managers to shepherd features/user stories – guiding the discovery phase and facilitating communications amongst other team members
  • Responsible for analyzing and documenting product and architectural roadmap in Agile management tool, such as Jira
  • Investigate, analyze, critique and suggest new features based on product usage data, current practices, and interactions with users
  • Work closely with Product Managers, UI and UX developers to outline story board and wireframes for all user interactions
  • Actively involved in every aspect of story identification and interactive design of the system
  • Evaluate every story to ensure real business value is delivered for every prioritized feature for a release
  • Work closely with QA, Program Manager, Tech Lead and support teams to plan product releases
  • Facilitate and participate in User Acceptance Testing
  • Provides references for users by writing and maintaining user documentation; release documentation, providing service desk support; training users

Skills And Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or related discipline) or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years professional experience as software business analyst
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience conducting business analysis using use cases, business process models & decision models
  • Experience facilitating requirements gathering sessions like requirements workshops and JAD sessions
  • Familiarity with the Data Management Body of Knowledge (DMBOK)
  • Experience with Agile methodology and Scrum framework for software development
  • Prior experience in web application and API development is highly desirable
  • Database querying skills is a must
  • Data analysis with data collection, organization and identifying correlation between analyzed data and the rest of the company's and industry's data
  • Basic project management capabilities with a drive to meet deadlines and demonstrate results.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to interface with Product and IT management
  • Preferable - knowledge of commercial construction industry.

Base Salary range: $70,000-$80,000

This represents the expected salary range for this job requisition. Final offers may vary from the amount listed based on factors including geography, candidate experience and expertise, and other job-related factors. DCN’s compensation and rewards package for full time roles includes a market competitive salary, comprehensive benefits, and, for applicable roles, uncapped commissions plans or an annual discretionary performance bonus.
