Business Analyst, Finance - Job Role & Responsibilities

The Business Analyst works closely with business leaders and IT departments to determine an organization’s critical needs and to implement solutions to help our business scale operations and run efficiently and will report directly to the Lead Director of Accounting Modernization. The person in this role will rapidly develop and gain institutional knowledge at Equitable through exposure to Accounting and Actuarial processes across multiple accounting regimes and support some of the most complex products in the industry. The role requires effective communication skills and will support the documentation, design and implementation of new accounting processes and continuous improvement of existing processes. This role requires established analytical abilities and is someone who can deal effectively as a liaison between client and systems communities with a strong working knowledge of functions and workflow.

In addition, this role works independently and serves as a resource on departmental projects and is current with technological trends and advances.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provides functional guidance, knowledge, and coordination for all business requirements work related to the Accounting Modernization program.
  • Gather, review and analyze business and industry data, financial reports, and other key metrics using data analytics tools.
  • Review business operations, assess evolving business ideas, liaise between groups, and communicate recommendations for improving business operations to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintains detailed knowledge of the businesses current processes and practices as well as evaluating technology solutions.
  • Exhibit creative problem solving and leadership in business requirements development and management.
  • Assess options for process improvement, including business process modeling.
  • Maintain documentation regarding various projects, processes and operations.
  • Deliver business analysis and reporting solution designs for supporting Financial and Regulatory reporting.
  • Recommend and help implement new systems, procedures, or changes.
  • Collaborate with project managers and cross-functional teams.
Business Analyst, Finance - Job requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years business analysis, project management and/or software quality assurance/testing experience
  • Knowledge of financial terms and principles as well as the ability to conduct financial analysis

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to effectively communicate and influence key stakeholders to support proposed strategies, process improvements and operational decisions
  • Familiarity with industry technology systems to gather data and problem solve
  • Research emerging technologies or business analysis systems that can help
  • Established analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Familiarity with data modeling, process design and application development practices
  • Experience working with vendor applications and package implementations (like SAP or Oracle/PeopleSoft)

The base salary range for this position is $85,000-$127,000. Actual base salaries vary based on skills, experience, and geographical location. In addition to base pay, Equitable provides compensation to reward performance with base salary increases, spot bonuses, and short-term incentive compensation opportunities. Eligibility for these programs depends on level and functional area of responsibility.
