Business Analyst - Job Role & Responsibilities

Calstart is seeking a Business Analyst (BA) to translate complex policies and business requirements into comprehensive software solutions for multiple program teams that utilize Salesforce and related tools. The BA will need to support our program teams effectively by bridging the gap between business needs and technical solutions. The BA will be instrumental in driving process improvements, enhancing the software development lifecycle, and ensuring that the final software products align with the program teams' objectives and comply with organizational policies.

Additionally, the BA will:

  • Identifying opportunities for enhancing the software development lifecycle, such as automating manual processes or optimizing workflows.
  • Analyzing data and metrics to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies, proposing improvement initiatives, and tracking their implementation progress.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful integration of process improvements.
  • Conducting in-depth interviews with stakeholders to elicit and document complex policies and business requirements.
  • Facilitating workshops and brainstorming sessions to gather insights and foster collaboration among program teams.
  • Creating and maintaining detailed process flow diagrams and requirement specifications.
  • Establishing strong working relationships with program teams, software developers, QA teams, and project managers to ensure a shared understanding of project goals.
  • Coordinating with clients and external partners to understand their needs, providing regular updates, and addressing their concerns throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Handling communication and conflict resolution to maintain a positive and productive working environment.
  • Collaborating with the development team to translate business requirements into actionable software specifications.
  • Assisting in the development of user stories, acceptance criteria, and test cases to ensure comprehensive testing against the defined requirements.
  • Supporting the QA team during testing phases, participating in defect triage, and validating that the software meets the business requirements.
  • Providing guidance and support to junior analysts, fostering their professional development, and helping them build essential business analysis skills.
  • Conducting regular training sessions and knowledge sharing to ensure a consistent and high standard of work among the team.
  • Offering constructive feedback and coaching to help junior analysts overcome challenges and grow in their roles.
Business Analyst - Job requirements

Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience as a Business Analyst or in a similar role, preferably in a software development or IT environment.
  • Proven experience in translating complex policies and business requirements into detailed software requirements, with a track record of successful project outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and experience working with Salesforce or related CRM tools.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and using data-driven insights to make informed decisions and drive process improvements.
  • Experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams, including developers, QA engineers, project managers, and external stakeholders, to achieve project goals effectively.
  • Business Analysis Fundamentals - business analysis concepts, methodologies, and best practices, including requirements gathering, documentation, and analysis techniques.
  • Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) Knowledge - stages of the software development process, from requirements definition to testing and deployment, to effectively collaborate with development teams.
  • Proficiency in CRM, such as Salesforce and Related Tools
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills - Strong analytical abilities to assess complex business challenges, identify root causes, and propose viable solutions through critical thinking.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data to draw conclusions and make recommendations.
  • Experience managing relationship and advise on strategy, project planning, market assessment, funding prioritization, project improvements, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Process Modeling, Quality Assurance and Testing
  • Ability to proofread or edit work for writing style, correct syntax and tenses, fact-checking, and grammatical errors.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret written material and quantitative data to draw conclusions and make recommendations.
  • Experience providing technical guidance on deployment strategies, business solutions, and best practices to a wider audience.
  • Adaptability and Flexibility, Stakeholder Management, Experience coordinating efforts and collaborating with a variety of individuals having conflicting. Stakeholder Management.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Salesforce
  • Salesforce (admin, BA, Consultant, etc.)
  • Industry-recognized certifications in business analysis, such as CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional) or CCBA (Certification of Capability in Business Analysis).
