Business Analyst, End User - Job Role & Responsibilities

Sony Corporation of America, GISC is seeking a Business Analyst focused on the America regions (North America, and South America) supporting the team in efforts related to data analysis, customer training, product management and a wide range of projects. The Business Analyst is sharply focused on identifying, documenting, and recommending solutions to business requirements of new and existing Office 365 Solutions, from a technology, process, and workflow perspective. The role is responsible for contributing to the broader IT team to align technology, strategy, and project execution to deliver a range of solutions for our customers.

This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days on site in either our NYC or San Diego office

Job Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will have a proficient understanding of a variety of Microsoft 365 products such as SharePoint, OneDrive, Microsoft Teams (Meeting Room Devices & Voice), Microsoft Suite, Exchange, Power Platform, etc. as they will be helping with:

  • Contributing to the development of a transformational roadmap for the Microsoft 365 Suite.
  • Contributing to roadmap execution, including taking a lead role in multi-track project plans, communicating updates to stakeholders, management, and providing weekly reports.
  • Contributing to all internal IT communications and activities with Information Security, IT fulfillment teams and IT infrastructure teams.
  • Comfortability with supporting a variety of teams across regions and different Sony Operating companies (Network, Telecom, Legal, Privacy, Global Office 365).
  • Participating in business and IT strategic planning; help develop IT strategy in alignment with business needs; promote innovative thinking and utilization of IT resources in the business.
  • Contributing to the development of our communications strategies to ensure key Stakeholders are aware of the changes to Microsoft 365 products
  • Ensuring successful saturation of Microsoft 365 products and tools by working with the appropriate teams such as Help Desk, Field Technical Support, Change Management, and others
  • Demonstrating good knowledge of the complexities of Microsoft 365. Possesses a passion for leading large-scale transformational projects.
  • Contributing to the enablement of Microsoft 365 solutions by aligning with the guiding principles of Agile and Kanban methodologies. Enforces efficiencies, eliminates rework and workarounds.
  • Successfully identifying opportunities to enhance existing IT processes and collaborating with process owners to introduce efficiencies.
  • Establishing and sustaining relationships with business stakeholders and project teams, including senior leaders, IT Support, and other corporate partners.
  • Acting as a liaison between IT and the business, defining and documenting IT demand, delivering technology to enable and meet business strategy, and supporting day to day operations
  • Successfully identifying and articulating options to stakeholders and influencing decisions based on derived facts and analysis.
  • Building relationships as a trusted business partner with key business executives
  • Managing customer expectations; resolving customer satisfaction issues; ensuring Operating Companies are receiving appropriate and adequate levels of IT services and support.
  • Soliciting, elaborating, and communicating requirements and/or issues to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Leading projects in the areas of data analysis, documentation of requirements, testing, change management, and end user support.
  • Utilizing Power Platform, required to build dashboards for data visualization and reporting purposes.
  • Assisting in streamlining processes for greater efficiency using automation, mainly through Power Automate
  • Contributing solutions as a subject matter expert by working and partnering with regional counterparts and developing a global governance and shared services operating model.
  • Conducting and leading training sessions for end users for Microsoft 365 and their suite of products. Comfortable in front of all levels and sizes of audiences
  • Creating end user documentation to support the adoption of Microsoft 365 tools
  • Understand the workings and strategy of the AM business units as well as current market trends.
  • Initiating and providing oversight for application development projects that are delivered on time, within budget and containing the agreed upon functionality.
  • Working closely & collaboratively with team members to seamlessly ensure high quality IT service delivery.
  • Researching new Microsoft 365 collaboration product features
Business Analyst, End User - Job requirements

Your qualifications and experience should include:

  • 3-5 years of experience in IT or related technical professions
  • Strong functional specifications and user requirements skills
  • Evidence of business acumen to communicate effectively with business and IT in day-to-day operations and delivery of IT services
  • Experience with Power Platform a must (power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate)
  • Self-Starter: Does not need to be told what to do. Takes initiative and conducts research on their own
  • Strong background in data analysis, visualization, and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Excel, SharePoint lists)
  • Microsoft 365 cloud and desktop applications (Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, OneNote, etc.)
  • Strong communication skills: Can answer questions directly and efficiently, and if they do not know the answer, they research to find it.
  • Strong work ethic: Comfortable taking ownership of a task or project, and working with multiple groups (Technical Operations, Legal, Governance, Information Security, etc.) to complete a task.
  • Analytical: Can either do or learn how to analyze data and provide solutions based on what the data is representing
  • Technical/Logical Thinking: Must be comfortable with creating and modifying data visualizations and data analytics, as well as programmatic solutioning/logical thinking (will be required to use the following tools: Power Automate, PowerBI).
  • Microsoft Certifications a plus
  • Fluency in English; Spanish and/or Japanese is a plus!
  • All candidates must be authorized to work in the US

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Business process documentation and flowcharting (Microsoft Visio)
  • End user training delivery
  • Knowledge of agile project management frameworks (Scrum, Scrumban, Kanban)
  • Agile development/project management tools (e.g., Azure Dev Ops, Jira, etc.)
