Business Analyst - Job Role & Responsibilities

The Business Analyst will work directly with Business stakeholders and application development teams to create, enhance, and maintain new and existing enterprise application systems. The primary role is to ensure developed applications meet the established standards of quality including required functionalities, usability, UX/UI, integration, and performance, as well as defining and documenting test cases based on the business requirements documentation. Additional responsibilities will be supporting the planning and management of the software releases and provide support to the business group post-implementation as a lead solution SME.

Key Responsibilities And Accountabilities

  • Building relationships with a variety of business stakeholders, and external vendors while working closely with development teams to remove blocking issues, manage competing priority conflicts, and ensure system implementation, compatibility, and user satisfaction.
  • Close coordination with business users, development, and project team to estimate, prioritize, plan, and coordinate quality testing processes and activities.
  • Creating comprehensive, detailed, well-structured, and intuitive test cases based on the defined requirements as well as manage the planning and logistics of UAT from a project perspective.
  • Liaison with Business and development teams to clarify requirements for software developers and execute any gap analysis between requirements and developed software functionality.
  • Facilitating any business process re-engineering efforts required for the successful implementation of the enterprise systems.
  • Writing training documentation, user manuals, and leading training workshops.
  • Identify, record, document issues, and track defects both to releases and to provide post-release support to Business users. Perform thorough regression testing when bugs are resolved.
  • Actively participate in project meetings and provide detailed status reports for program reporting including issues and risks that require escalations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned including the potential to become the solution/product owner (post system implementation).

Mandatory

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Information Systems/Technology, or related field preferred; or 3 to 5 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to test, release, and support enterprise systems that are scalable, usable, and have acceptable performance.
  • Demonstrated ability in Business process re-engineering & process enhancements.
  • Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes.
  • Working knowledge of SDLC, Waterfall, and Agile project methodologies.
  • Extensive experience liaising with business stakeholders and geographically dispersed development teams.
  • Experience with software release planning and release management.
  • Knowledge and experience in IT processes necessary for quality assurance, release management, and support of highly complex enterprise solutions and services including training and change management.
  • Ability to balance the needs of Business and IT stakeholders at all levels of the organization, clearly communicate any blocking risks and/or issues, properly set expectations.
  • Experience working with functional and project artifacts (e.g. project plans, requirement definitions, process definitions, test scripts, UAT plans, release documentation, training documents, software support knowledge articles etc.)
  • Excellent attendance and reliability, with the ability to work overtime/extended hours as required.
  • Ability to accept direction and developmental guidance from manager and other team members as required.

Desirable

  • Experience with Financial/Accounting systems
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft development and application technologies.
  • Experience in the QA, delivery, and support of Financial and sales booking enterprise systems.
  • Experience working with Jira, and Test Manager tools such as PractiTest.
