Business Analyst - Job Role & Responsibilities

The Business Planning Analyst will analyze key business data, lead annual planning, and complete reporting needs for both International Services (ISD) and Service to the Armed Forces/International Services (SAF/IS). The Analyst will provide quantitative and qualitative analysis and support, create reports and visualizations in PowerBI and on other reporting platforms, and support organizational target-setting and KPI monitoring. The Analyst will support business unit planning processes, including in areas such as business development, workforce / level of effort planning, programmatic planning, and business information systems. As a member of the Business Planning and Analysis team and all of Quality, Data, and Learning, the Analyst will provide support, development and/or leadership guidance to a team of volunteers who support all activities across planning and analysis in both ISD and SAF/IS.

Perform all duties and responsibilities in compliance with standard operating procedures and other applicable Federal, State and local regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide program planning support through data analyses. Conduct research and business plan analysis. Identify trends and opportunities for learning and continuous improvement, and develop recommendations for complex issues.
  • Working with business unit leaders, facilitate annual planning processes in both departments. Support planning needs. Plan and facilitate regular reviews of results to plan.
  • Participate in projects and operations as a subject matter expert to develop complex solutions and concepts including, but not limited to analysis, reporting, budget, and scheduling.
  • Conduct risk, resource, cost-benefit, variance, impact and/or other complex analyses. May develop metrics for and monitor performance of business unit, organization, projects, key initiatives and/or business operations.
  • Develop complex modeling and reporting tools or other systems for monitoring and analyzing performance or data integrity for internal/organizational KPIs and mission projects and programs, including international grant-funded projects. Create reporting and visualizations that provide proactive decision support to business unit leaders.
  • Liaise with system administrators and system product owners to ensure effective data governance in business systems, including Salesforce-based applications. Support departments with system usage and adoption, and create reports to facilitate monitoring and decision-making.
  • Typically coordinate certain operational support activities on behalf of business unit such as workforce / level of effort planning, and programmatic planning. Collaborate closely with Research & Evaluation and Project Management team members to ensure effective and efficient cross-departmental decision support.
  • Mobilize and empower a team of business planning and analysis volunteers.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree required.
Experience: Minimum 5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.

Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of applicable principles, concepts, practices, and standards. Good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Basic proficiency in use of Personal Computer, word-processing, spreadsheet applications, and database applications when applicable. Experience with PowerBI strongly preferred. Experience with Salesforce-based applications strongly preferred. Ability to work on a team is a must, as well as the ability to work independently with general guidance.

Travel: May travel and participate in meetings and conferences throughout chapter jurisdiction, state and Red Cross system.
