Business Analyst - Job Role & Responsibilities

The mission of the Marketing Technology team is to leverage Vail Resorts proprietary guest data and Omni-Channel marketing integrations to unlock value for the business. The Marketing Technology Applications team is responsible for providing out front thought leadership, excellent internal customer support, and dedicated tool ownership to each of our core marketing applications partners across our marketing channels (e.g. Paid Media, Relationship Marketing (CRM), Asset Management, and Online Digital Experience, etc), We also interact with our Data Science and Data Engineering team leveraging statistical models within our marketing efforts to build rich customer experiences when applicable.

POSITION PURPOSE – Marketing Applications Business Analyst

The Marketing Applications Business Analyst role is an important position reporting to the Senior Program Manager of Marketing Applications. This BA will be an important part of our high-energy, unique, fast-paced, and innovative culture as we support our GTM processes and system integrations/enhancements. The position will be primarily responsible for gathering and defining requirements across 10+ platforms and serving as the primary contact between the business stakeholders and developers/architects. This position will bring value to the organization through thorough documentation, organization, and streamlining processes to allow Vail Resorts to continue to grow in complexity while streamlining execution across 35+ brands in different countries.

We are looking for a business analyst that is highly ambitious and detail oriented. This person will come with deep Marketing Technology systems expertise – primarily focused on how we can support the technical buildout of our marketing applications driving revenue across a wide variety of brands and lines of business simultaneously.

They will have a proven track record for delivering complex requirements, enhancements, integrations, and other technical project in a clear and concise manner, prioritizing high impact tickets and have a history of developing partnerships with business stakeholders.

To succeed in this role, you must have a keen understanding of the ticket creation, requirements gathering, and testing process, experience working in an Agile environment using Jira and Confluence, and have the ability to partner with key business stakeholders to improve our platforms in a complex environment. This is a unique opportunity to play a vital role in driving marketing technology tool improvements and supporting operations critical to Vail Resort’s continued success.

In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the daily operation of our marketing technology platforms spanning across web, mobile, email, display, search, and other integrated Omni-Channel experiences.

Job Responsiilities

  • [MarTech] 5+ years of ownership capturing complex marketing technology requirements across multiple platforms and serving as the primary contact between the business stakeholders and developers/architects.
  • [Communication] Ability to translate detailed system integration requirements into clear, concise, and actionable tickets for consumption by the core stakeholders across multiple Marketing teams.
  • [Leadership] Demonstrate strong leadership to assist with key E2E and regression testing for platform enhancements as well as ticket refinement and prioritization.
  • [Partnership] Partner with cross-functional teams across key Marketing Channel Stakeholders and Technology stakeholders to provide direction and decision on how Vail Resort’s marketing technology can be integrated across our holistic business.
  • [Process management] Demonstrate the ability to coordinate tickets between technically complex platforms and projects to drive real business impact partners based on detailed go to market expectations.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent analyst experience in related field (Marketing, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering) required; Experience with marketing technology tools required.
  • 5+ years demonstrating a high degree of proficiency in requirements gathering, ticket refinement, and technical documentation.
  • 5+ years specifically in a business analyst role supporting marketing applications, while focusing on best practices and governance guidelines
  • Hands on experience with technical integrations into advertising and data platforms
  • Proven track record of delivering scalable, resource intensive, integrated Omni-channel projects and best in class level support for operational teams
  • Strong organizational and project management skills are essential.
  • Must be able handle multiple projects (and go to market channel needs / tactics) simultaneously and coordinate across multiple functions within an organization.
  • Highly collaborative approach and open communication style.
  • Understanding of holistic enterprise architecture and how our platforms can be leveraged to create scalable campaigns across multiple brands simultaneously.
  • Ability to easily switch priorities depending on in-market needs, and flex discussion with critical stakeholders on pros / cons of prioritization downstream effects.
  • Proven record of building a sense of trust that creates a comfortable and effective workplace while also being assertive and not afraid of doing what is best for Vail Resorts.
  • Experience with creating and updating tickets in Jira
  • Experience with technical documentation Confluence
  • High level of comfort with proactive communication with stakeholders and broader working knowledge of enterprise Marketing Technology a plus.
  • Knowledge of current key industry trends & integrations a plus
  • Minimal travel to resort locations and also to partner/vendor locations
  • Familiarity with Vail Resorts and its operations is helpful

The expected Total Compensation for this role is $89,100 - $110,000+ annual bonus. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
