Business Analyst - Job Role & Responsibilities

Information About The Role, Line Of Business And Team

Act as liaison between the assigned business unit(s) and Technology (i.e., Salesforce, Website, Telecommunication, etc.) to identify, document, and analyze requirements from a business perspective to ensure the proper translation of business requirements to IT/ process solutions. Uses data analytics to assess processes and deliver data-driven recommendations and reports to stakeholders.

What You Will Do

  • Prepares requirements, specifications, business processes and recommendations for assigned business unit(s).
  • Generates innovative solutions by approaching problems with curiosity and open mindedness, using existing information to its fullest potential.
  • Actively participates in requirements gathering and project meetings with the Product Owner/ Proxy to identify project features and document user stories / acceptance criteria for development.
  • Primary point of contact between IT and assigned business unit(s).
  • Identifies and documents system deficiencies and recommends solutions.
  • Assists in enforcement of project deadlines and schedules.
  • Develops internal meeting objectives and agendas.
  • Assists in the development of training materials for assigned business unit(s) and others and conducts training as it relates to system changes and enhancements.
  • Participates in all Scrum rituals with the development team including daily standup meetings, sprint planning sessions where the team identifies story points and commits to work items, sprint reviews and retrospectives.
  • Oversees user acceptance testing activities.

  • Minimum 3 years of business analysis work experience.
  • Experience working in an agile environment is a plus.
  • Exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
  • The ability to influence stakeholders and work closely with them to determine acceptable solutions.
  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to travel to Glastonbury CT office for periodic team meetings, employee activities, etc.
  • Clearly articulates ideas and thoughts verbally, promotes active listening and contributes appropriately to conversations.
  • Establishes responsible deadlines and personal work plans; manages time and prioritizes multiple tasks effectively.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Understands client expectations and recognizes when issues/events may affect delivery.
  • Demonstrates the ability to cooperate with a variety of people and achieve results.
  • Accurately prepares written user stories/ acceptance criteria and correspondence that is coherent, grammatically correct, effective, professional, and appropriate for the needs of the audience.
  • Adheres to defined project standards, understands the necessity, and applies them consistently.
  • Proactively seeks opportunities to broaden and deepen knowledge base and proficiencies.

The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee’s contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs.
