Business Analyst, Ecommerce - Job Role & Responsibilities

We have team members located across the United States spanning multiple time zones. This means we put in extra effort to make sure we connect and collaborate in ways that make sense for us. We know how valuable the flexibility of remote work is for our employees.

We know that personal connection is the foundation for the great work we do together. In order to build those relationships with team members in other cities, we meet with coworkers in person two times a year at a full company offsite and a departmental offsite. These offsites are expected of employees and are great opportunities to meet the people you work with every day and to do some of the work that is much more difficult to do virtually.

What the Role Is

Babylist is seeking an E-Commerce Business Analyst to join our dynamic E-Commerce team. The ideal candidate will possess retail acumen, strong analytical skills, and a passion for driving business growth through data insights. As an E-Commerce Business Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in driving revenue and profit growth by supporting various strategic initiatives across assortment, pricing, vendor negotiations, promotions, cost reduction, returns, and other ad-hoc projects that support the continued growth of Babylist Direct Commerce.

How You Will Make An Impact

  • Perform modeling and analysis for strategic Ecommerce initiatives that support revenue and profit growth such as assortment, pricing, promotions, unit economics, and other ad-hoc projects
  • Provide data insights and recommendations in support of various business cases
  • Provide insights and recommendations for business reviews and milestone meetings
  • Perform market analysis and provide category insights around trends and change drivers
  • Support merchandising team by performing deal and terms analysis for major vendor negotiations
  • Conduct returns analysis and provide recommendations
  • Support pricing initiatives, including financial modeling, tool shaping, development, and rollout.

Who You Are

  • You have 5-7 years experience with 3+ years of experience in e-commerce or retail analytics.
  • Highly analytical, detail-oriented and constantly seeking to understand the "why" of any business trend
  • Excellent communicator (written and verbal); and a pro at collaborating constructively with, and influencing, business partners
  • Understanding of retail financials and KPIS, modeling, reporting, and analysis
  • Motivated to achieve results in a fast-paced, growing, and ambiguous environment
  • Able to manipulate large data sets, uncover hidden insights in our data, and meaningfully improve our understanding of our business through this process
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools: Excel(required) and SQL(preferred)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Experience with e-commerce platforms and pricing tools preferred
